Technological Tools + Spontaneous and skilled Voice Talent Could Win-Over a Client

by Tim Noonan

I was having a catch-up chat with a colleague/friend last Friday and he mentioned the possibility of Vocal Branding Australia and The Expressive Voice Agency producing a cool and engaging voiceover track for a training video he is pitching and coordinating for one of his clients.

We briefly discussed the video’s objectives, and he then sent through a couple of early scripts and concepts.

So last night I sent through some notes and ideas for him to pitch to his client and said I had the perfect voice for the job.

Today he emailed to say the client was interested in principle, but they wanted to know what the project would sound like. “Did I have any voice samples of the talent I was recommending?” – I had none available that I felt were ideal – but told him I’d ‘see what I could do’.

This afternoon, I called the talent, asked what samples he had – and then it dawned on me…

‘Why couldn’t we mock up a baby script – right there and then, on the phone…’

And that is what we did. Using my phone’s recorder, I grabbed a recording of the voice talent reading the script, and we said our good-byes.

The result:

  1. 15 minutes later, an MP3 file custom-designed for the client is in my friend’s in-box.

  2. Tomorrow, his client will know, first hand, just how perfectly suited the voice talent we recommended will match his company brand.

  3. Now we wait, trusting that an innovative blend of voice and communications technology will result in both a new client and an interesting Vocal Branding project.
